Meet Flywheel NYC’s Newest Instructor—and DJ—Christianne Phillips

Flywheel Sports NYC Trainers

Flywheel NYC’s newest instructor, Christianne Phillips also happens to be a reputable DJ — so she knows how to rock it on the bike and off. She can create a playlist that will push you beyond your limits and make you forget about everything outside of the stadium. With each class she teaches, Christianne not only focuses on her riders’ form, but also takes pride in getting to know them so she can curate playlists that will tap into their individual personalities. When she’s not on the bike, Christianne is studying nutrition so she can further help others achieve their goals. If you haven’t yet taken her class, you’ll feel compelled to book your bike as soon as you read her interview here:

INSTRUCTORS SHARE THEIR GAME DAY RECIPES

superbowl-snacks-main580

For many people, Super Bowl Sunday is more than a football game. Most of us can’t help critiquing commercials, singing along during the halftime show, and of course, digging into a bowl full of snacks. Savory items like chips, dips, wings, and pizza are standard, but after asking Flywheel instructors what they prefer on game day, we realized we’ve been seriously missing out (bacon wrapped dates and pineapple, anyone?). So whether you’re in it for the game, the snacks, or the commercials, make this Sunday more fun with these instructor-approved snacks.

What’s In My Gym Bag: Ryan Hardy, Executive Chef and Partner of SoHo’s Charlie Bird

ryan-hardy- new-main580
Ryan Hardy, executive chef of NYC’s hip downtown restaurant Charlie Bird, once told the Village Voice that he believes in surrounding himself with “great people and taking a chance on something that has real passion and heart.”  That was his underlying goal when it came to the opening of his Italian-influenced, American-executed NYC restaurant, and it’s one that seems to transcend into other aspects of his life. The “nomadic” Hardy spent his twenties traveling Europe on a culinary bender, immersing himself in culture and fueling his passion for meeting new people. Upon moving to NYC and opening Charlie Bird, Ryan went on another quest. The active runner was seeking a workout that would offer an outlet to his hectic days as well as provide an atmosphere of “passionate people,” similar to that of his kitchen. That’s when he found Flywheel.  As stated in his “Voice” interview,  Hardy says the most underrated kitchen tool is a towel. Well, at Flywheel, it’s something we wouldn’t dare go without, either!  From the kitchen to the studio, check out Ryan’s full list of gym bag essentials here:

john-legere-inerview-main02-580

T-Mobile CEO John Legere knows a thing or two about the benefits of fitness + technology. While Legere spends his days figuring out how to shake up the wireless industry, he also finds time to run at least two marathons a year and dominate the TorqBoard at Flywheel in Seattle. The former college runner still enjoys competing in events with friends and fellow employees. So it’s not surprise you’ll see him on Twitter calling out colleagues for their Power Scores and challenging them to a race in the stadium. We spoke to the highly entertaining CEO and self-proclaimed music fan (no big deal that he hangs with Steve Aoki!) about his love for Flywheel’s technology, his physical and mental health, and how those 45 minutes on the bike are the most efficient workout for the man behind the multi-billion dollar company.
