By October 30, 2019 No Comments

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness for the month of October, Flywheel is sharing stories from members of our #FlyFam community relating to their experiences with Breast Cancer.

Please stay tuned, and thank you for reading!

“I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in August 2017 at 29 years old. It was an absolute shock to me. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would have the dreaded C word. A month after my diagnoses and after many many scans, I had lumpectomy surgery & sentinel node biopsy. After the surgery my treatment plan consisted of 4 months of chemotherapy and 34 radiation therapy treatments. I lost all my hair and invested in a bunch of fun hats to wear. It was a long year with lots highs and lows, but I battled through and came out stronger on the other side. Although the fight is never over, I still have monthly check ups and now doing hormone therapy to prevent re-occurrence,  I am proud to celebrate this October for 2 years cancer free!

During my cancer journey, Flywheel was my outlet to forget everything else and ride for me. I never felt like a cancer patient while riding in the studio. I worked through all my emotions on the bike and the Fly Fam was by my side the whole way, celebrating all my milestones with me.  I knew if I could ride 45 minutes and push it to the limit on the bike then I sure as heck could crush cancer as well!

The American Cancer Society is a nationwide organization dedicated to eliminating cancer.”
