How to Maintain Healthy Post-Workout Momentum

By September 14, 2017 September 15th, 2017 No Comments

Being crazy crunched for time after a tough workout shouldn’t stop you from maintaining the healthy momentum you just built up. That’s why we’re teaming up with Healthy Choice to offer their brand-new Power Bowls to the FLY Fam, so you can keep your body going after crushing a Flywheel or FlyBarre class! To nail a health and wellness balance that works for you, here are some helpful tips:

1. Set exercise goals and stick to them.

You have to figure out what works best for your body, whether that’s working out twice a week or getting a daily dose of exercise. When you hone in on your workout rhythm, hold yourself accountable. We all dread working out some days, but we rarely regret getting a good sweat in once we’re finished. If you need extra accountability, sign up for a Flywheel class with a friend (or a few!) and make it a fun group activity.

2. Reinforce your hard work, don’t reverse it.

While we do believe in treating yourself once in a while, remember that no matter how busy you are, it’s not worth trashing your progress by scarfing down a bunch of junk. Post-workout, reach for all-natural lean proteins, whole grains like quinoa and barley, and leafy greens like kale, chard and spinach – just a few of the ingredients in Healthy Choice’s new Power Bowls.  Kristin Reimers, Ph.D., nutrition manager at Healthy Choice, says, “Energy bars, smoothies, nuts and dates are great post-workout snacks, but sometimes you need a more balanced meal packed with nourishing ingredients, especially when you’re preparing to tackle more on your to-do list.”  Our friends at Healthy Choice stress the importance of each and every ingredient of their Power Bowls (including the bowl itself, which is made from a plant-based fiber, not plastic), which is why they’re a FLY favorite.  Keep an eye out for complimentary Power Bowl coupons in-studios and enjoy! 3. Reevaluate and rebalance when you need to.

Life is hectic. Whatever keeps you balanced today might not work next month or next year. While some things remain constant – you’ll always need sleep, strength and nourishing meals – don’t be afraid to reevaluate and rebalance if something isn’t working. Whatever else is in flux and however packed your schedule, be sure you’ve got a healthy, convenient meal option to complement your active lifestyle and keep you going.
