Yesterday in Central Park, NYC, headliners such as Jay Z, Tiesto, Carrie Underwood, Alicia Keys, No Doubt and more performed in a free concert in an effort to help end poverty and promote activism. In it’s third successful year, the Global Citizen Festival has significantly impacted lives of those in need of vaccines, food, water and sanitation. But most importantly, it’s given them a voice. So, what is Global Citizen exactly?
“Global Citizen is a tool to amplify and unite a generation’s call for justice. It’s a place for you to learn and act, to bring an end to extreme poverty. We know that people living in extreme poverty are working hard themselves, and that we need to learn and take action to change the rules that trap them in broken systems. We use Global Citizen to learn more about issues, so we can take effective action for change and find opportunities to support campaigns and organizations creating sustainable change. There are more than 250,000 Global Citizens already taking action around the world .”
Here’s how you can join in on the movement.
With a setlist you bet you’d want to FLY to, riders at our Flywheel TriBeCa studio turned up the torq at instructor Josh Arden’s Global Citizen Ride. Take a listen to his playlist here.
“This years’ lineup forced me to look at a couple of new artists (for me), and see what they have that I can get down to in class! The festival had a really eclectic lineup – and that made it easy, because we like to hit different genres in our Flywheel classes!”
