This month, we’re celebrating all the Fly dads who find time to crush it on the bike…while juggling the awesome adventures of fatherhood. Check out their stories below!
JONATHAN STEIN, NORTH BETHESDA, MARYLAND
I’ve been a Flywheel studio rider since 2012 and got the Flywheel Home bike in January 2018. Before we got the bike, trying to get into DC from the suburbs for a 7:00am ride would be a struggle, and I’d feel terrible about not seeing my 4-year-old daughter and 9-month-old son awake before I had to leave. With the home bike, I can remember riding as early as 5:15am, and then I can get in the rest of the normal morning routine and ride the Flywheel Home Bike with the best instructors in the business. It doesn’t matter if I’m doing a 20, a 30, a Power or Tempo or Climb, it always makes the rest of the day better just having that sense of accomplishment before the sun comes up.
CASEY WALTON, SOUTH JORDAN, UTAH
I found Flywheel through classes in the Bay Area and I now ride the Flywheel Home Bike 1-2 times a week here in Utah. I use it to cross-train for ultra marathons because the work on the bike works muscles I can’t target while running. It helps me keep up with my cardio when I don’t have time to do long distance runs. Climb kicks my butt, and Kyle and Emily are my favorite instructors!
RON DASHER, MATTHEWS, NORTH CAROLINA
As a dad of two tiny ones (3 & 5), I love the flexibility the at home bike offers me and our family. I’m controlling my class length, the time of day I ride, and the difficulty level of my workout – all while never leaving home. I’m currently doing my own 2019 challenge where I ‘virtually’ ride the bike from our home in Matthews (near Charlotte), NC to LA! I’m about halfway across the country right now and I’m tracking my progress on a big map on the wall beside the bike. Since having the bike, I’ve also lost 20 pounds and have gotten much stronger!
