This weekend, we celebrate the men in our lives who truly “do it all.” In honor of Father’s Day, we asked FLY dads from all across the country to share their honest truths–from how they maintained their hard-earned physiques to the ways they stayed motivated to FLY. Whether you can relate to these guys or you’re looking for a little inspiration, you’ll be amazed by the strength of these dads. Read on.

Victor Self, Creative Director West Coast and Master Instructor with his daughters

Do you ever FLY with your family, and if so what do you love about it?

My husband, Chris, is a Flywheel fanatic! He takes almost every class I teach (he takes other instructors too and also likes FlyBarre!). He sits in the front row and having his support and understanding about something I am so passionate about makes me feel so fortunate and grateful. Our kids come to Flywheel all the time and love the apples!

What’s your never-fail “fatherly” advice?

I/we talk to our kids about challenging themselves and doing something that scares them regularly. I tell them the same thing I tell the riders I train, YOU CAN DO ANYTHING, just be willing, do your best and be fearless in the pursuit of what you want!

What are you planning on doing to celebrate Father’s Day?

I’ll be teaching 2 classes on Fathers Day! After that I’m certain we’ll hit the beach with the kids and just have a nice day being together in the sun.

Do you ever FLY with your family, and if so what do you love about it?

I don’t FLY with the kids as they are too young. They can’t wait to be old enough to ride, particularly my son!

What’s your never-fail “fatherly” advice?

“Be respectful and nice to everyone. Stay curious and always have a plan. Never pass the opportunity to help others.” Beside that, I always try to expose them to new things. Sports, art, music, activities… so they can try things that they are not comfortable with yet.

What are you planning on doing to celebrate Father’s Day?

During Fathers Day we will do what we love to do the most: go to the coast (Santa Cruz) and hang out at the beach. Some surfing, body boarding, and castle building! There is nothing like a beautiful day with the kids on the beach.

Do you ever FLY with your family, and if so what do you love about it?

The family that works out together, stays together! My wife loves Flywheel, but my son is a little too small to ride the bike right now. My favorite thing is going out to breakfast as a family after a really hard flywheel session. That way, I can order whatever I want!

What’s your never-fail “fatherly” advice?

Living the dream is a simple two step process. Step 1: Find something that you absolutely love to do. Step 2: Find someone to pay you to do it!”

What are you planning on doing to celebrate Father’s Day?

We always have a big family BBQ. I try to keep my cheat meals open for an entire month so I can go ahead and indulge on the ribs and beer.

Zachary Hollister, Flywheel Charlotte

Do you ever FLY with your family, and if so what do you love about it?

Unfortunately I have yet to FLY with my family, but my parents say when there is a Flywheel in Cleveland they will be there to crank some pedals with me. Can’t wait!

What’s your never-fail “fatherly” advice?

My “never fail” fatherly advice to my son, Lucas, is simply being kind to others. As he is only 5 years old, this is a concept he can directly apply to his life now and forever, as he develops relationships with his friends and currently his teammates in baseball. Accepting others as they are and treating people with respect is crucial to guiding his moral compass in the right direction and I make a strong effort to teach this principle through my own actions.

What are you planning on doing to celebrate Father’s Day?

This Father’s Day we will be visiting with my Dad in Cleveland, OH for the weekend, catching an Indian’s baseball game together and cooking. Family, food and baseball, that’s how we do it at the Hollister house. Happy Father’s Day to all the FLY Dads out there!

Gregg Pitts, Flywheel Washington D.C.

Do you ever FLY with your family, and if so what do you love about it?

Yes!  My husband Brooks and I FLY together from time-to-time.  We a 7-month-old at home, so not as often as we used to.  Of course I do love it when he comes to my class!

What’s your never-fail “fatherly” advice?

Put yourself in the right place with quality people and you will make good decisions.

What are you planning on doing to celebrate Father’s Day?

It is our first Father’s Day, so it is special.  We will be spending time together as a family, and if the weather cooperates, we will spend time outside!

Jason Morss, Flywheel Florida

Do you ever FLY with your family, and if so what do you love about it?

I have, my daughter is 14, and lately she has really enjoyed taking FlyBarre classes while I’m teaching next door, and I’m totally ok with that.

What’s your never-fail “fatherly” advice?

I work as a “double agent” parent. Intel is gathered during the best friend phase, which thankfully is most of the time. I talk to her as a grown up and remember how I wanted to be treated at 14. If needed, the discipline phase is later. A 14-year-old has a short retention span, a seasoned parent has a memory like an elephant!

What are you planning on doing to celebrate Father’s Day?

Paddle boarding and swimming at the beach, then cook and hang while she gives me new songs for my playlists!
