No one ever wants to hear that you have to cut alcohol if you want to lose weight. So what should you reach for when you want to let your hair down? You may not know this, but sipping tequila in moderation can actually provide some surprising health benefits – from reducing bloat to aiding in weight loss, and even curbing insomnia. The best part? When you choose 100% agave tequila, you’ll lessen your chances of suffering from a hangover – which means no excuses for skipping a #DawnPatrol FLY! In honor of #NationalTequilaDay, check out these low-calorie recipes from Decada Tequila that won’t blow all that time spent on the bike.

“The Buzz” shows you how to go one step beyond the spicy margarita for someone who is not quite ready to venture too far from their humble short list of tequila cocktails to enjoy on Taco Tuesday.
1 ounce honey
1/2 ounce hot water
1.5 ounces DÉCADA Silver
1 Jalapeño slice (1/2 inch thick)
3/4 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
3/4 ounce honey syrup

Stir honey and hot water together to make honey syrup. Muddle Jalapeño in the shaker gently. In a glass add ice, tequila, lemon juice, and honey syrup. Pour into shaker and shake for 15 seconds. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with jalapeño slice and lemon twist. Serve straight up.

The Mexican Mule
This was made for those who were so romanced by this drinks “Russian” cousin. When it comes to any drink with lime a rule of thumb is “Good tequila will only make it better.”
1.5 oz DÉCADA Silver
1 oz Fresh Lime
1 oz Simple Syrup
2 oz Ginger Beer
10-12 Mint Leaves

In a pilsner glass lightly muddle half the lime with the mint, bruising mint without breaking into pieces. Add juice of other half of the lime, tequila, simple syrup. Shake. Pour/Strain into chilled copper mug, fill with ice, top with ginger beer. Garnish with mint sprig and lime twist or wedge.

The Paloma
We definitely cannot take credit for the invention of this amazingly zesty classic that you probably never heard of. The Paloma is to Mexico what the margarita is to the U.S.A. This unique, simple cocktail will leave you in existential disbelief over the flavor of amazing tequila and grapefruit.
1.5 oz DÉCADA Silver
1 oz Fresh Pink Grapefruit Juice
.5 oz Fresh Lime
.5-1 oz Simple Syrup to Taste
2 oz club soda

Add all ingredients (except club soda) to shaker with ice. Shake and pour into Collins glass and top with club soda.

Sangre Maria (Mexican Bloody Mary)
Next time you’re lounging by the pool or having brunch, order up or make one of these vegetable dominating concoctions to take in your daily dose of good vibes and vitamin YUM!
2 oz DÉCADA Silver
.5 oz pickle juice
2 oz Tomato Juice
.5 oz Orange Juice
.5 Lemon Juice
.5 Lime Juice
Large Bar Spoon of Horseradish
.5 oz of Cholula Sauce
4 Large Dashes of Tabasco
.5 oz Worcestershire Sauce
.5 oz Red Wine
