Five years ago, I thought that I in the best shape of my life. I felt healthy and confident and I was up for any fitness challenge that came my way. But then the aches and pains began. What I initially chalked up to “getting older” and muscle fatigue was eventually diagnosed as osteoarthritis, a form of arthritis that causes pain, swelling and reduced motion in joints, such as hips. I was devastated. My hard-earned fitness routine and long anticipated plans to try Flywheel were abruptly put on hold. I underwent a bilateral hip replacement. I recently got married in Santa Barbara and currently live in New York with my amazing husband. I couldn’t have imagined a better wedding day. Melissa Kaiser’s story is unique. The dedicated Flywheel Philadelphia rider has been FLYing for over a year now, all while enduring an illness that for years left her too nervous to be far from the comfort of her home. Flywheel Chicago rider Shauna Anderson started FLYing in 2014 after suffering an injury during marathon training. Six months later, she’s not only lost 16 pounds, but also discovered a workout that allows her to pursue her goal of running a marathon in all seven continents!
