The Fastest Ways to Wash Your Face Pre or Post-Class

Screen Shot 2016-12-01 at 12.14.57 PM No matter how much time you have—even if it’s only a hot second after class—there’s a fast and easy way to wash your face. (Trust us, this is not a step you want to skip.) Here, five speedy complexion cleansing techniques. By: Melanie Rud Chadwick

1. If You Have Less Than a Minute…

Face wipes are your BFF. Grab one, swipe all over (maybe spending an extra second on areas that get especially oily or sweaty, like your Tzone), and you’re good-to-go. Fast, easy, no H20 required…it really doesn’t get any better than that. Also nice: Wipes are perfect for swiping across your back or chest after a ride to eliminate sweat that can lead to body breakouts.

2. If You Have a Minute…

Grab a spray-on toner. A couple quick spritzes will help refresh skin and absorb excess oil, leaving your complexion looking—and feeling—so fresh and so clean clean. You can wipe off with a cotton pad after, but there’s no need if you’re in a hurry. If your skin is on the dryer side, scan the ingredient list and be sure the option you choose is alcohol-free.

3. If You Have Two-Five Minutes…

Reach for a real-deal cleanser, since you have enough time to actually focus on really washing your face. No matter which one you choose, massage on gently, being sure to get as close to your hairline as possible (it’s a spot that often gets overlooked and is a prone to pimples). Let it sit on your skin, sing the alphabet, then rinse off; this gives the active ingredients in the cleanser enough time to do their thing and actually work.

4. If You Have Five-Ten Minutes…

Up the ante with an exfoliating scrub. For the best bang for your buck, pick one that contains both mechanical exfoliants (beads, seeds), which work by sloughing off dead skin cells, and chemical exfoliants (acids, fruit enzymes), which dissolve them. Be sure to slather on a moisturizer afterwards.

5. If You Have More Than Ten Minutes…

First of all, jealous. Second of all, when time is not an issue, a mask is always a good way to go. To get a deep clean, choose a detoxifying formula with ingredients like charcoal and clay to pull out any gunk and grime that may be lodged in your pores. Slather on, then kick back and relax. Netflix and face mask, anyone?
